Barkers Squeezed New Zealand Limes with Elderflower

Barker’s of Geraldine is one of New Zealand’s favourite home-grown family businesses. Based in Geraldine, South Canterbury, the Barker family has been crafting delicious fruit preserves, chutneys and syrups for over six generations.

Barkers-of-Geraldine-Logo-Hi-resEstablished on the family farm in 1969 by inventor Anthony Barker who, after learning his mother’s skills for preserving fruit, went on to develop a successful cottage industry with a wild elderberry wine as his first product. This was followed by blackcurrant liqueurs, syrups, fruit spreads, jams, marmalades, chutneys, pickles and savoury sauces.

We squeeze New Zealand grown limes and add a touch of elderflower. We’ve been squeezing fruits for over 40 years and we reckon this is one of our best.

Squeezed New Zealand Limes with Elderflower simply add to sparkling or still water and top with ice cubes for a delicate and refreshing long drink – a perfect summer drop.
Great just on their own mixed with water, Barker’s fruit syrups also make great mixers for your favourite tipple and can be used as a wonderful base for cocktails

  1. This stuff is amazing, can be used as a base for alcoholic (yummy with vodka and gin…..perfect to add to punch recipes too!) or my favourite is actually as non alcoholic. I mix it up with fresh crushed mint, ice, add some blueberries, sliced cucumber, strawberries and then top it up with soda water. Yummy, refreshing and just a little bit fancy!

  2. This is a great summer addition to the fridge, I really enjoyed trying it, as did the rest of the family. Nice added to water, soda water or lemonade – over ice. The elderflower added a nice taste as well – Yum!

  3. This was very interesting. as when i saw the elderflower my mind went on to tell me its got flowers in it why am i drinking this. BUT i actuallly liked the taste. and i was suprised. but it is very refreshing . And one of my exchange students actually liked it with hot water…
And i did try some of this when she made some. and it was actually quite nice. But i prefered to have it with Ice cubes and Lemonade. I am yet to try it with just cold water. but i am sure it will be refreshing.
i am even keen to make some ice blocks and see how they taste…

Thanks Family in Focus for giving us all a chance to try this.

I like elderflower flavour so was keen to see how Barkers had mixed this with lime to make a drink syrup. I would not normally buy a mix like this as the syrups in the fridge are normally very plain so that they meet the needs of all the family. I was surprised however that although my husband was not keen on the flavour my 3 year old enjoyed it. Even more that just lemon or lime. I enjoy having this syrup in the fridge to just add water when we need a bit more of a flavour in our water. By having a range of Barkers syrups each member of the family can have their favourite.

  5. This is REALLY nice, its amazing how much difference the elderflower makes to the taste! There is no tartness to the lime just a really refreshing, crisp taste. We loved it just with water, the kids liked it so much they would like me to make it a regular on the shopping list! I will definitely be getting this again!
