When we watched Finding Nemo, I think we all fell in love with adorable but forgetful Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres).
The sweet (but flaky) Blue Tang fish offered us reasons to laugh, while in some cases reminding us that none of us are perfect, but we all have our place in the world. Well, Dory has a place in our hearts as well.
Now Dory is back and offers new details of the all-new story, which reunites Dory with friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past.
What can she remember?
Who are her parents?
And where did she learn to speak Whale?
At first I thought this was going to be a sequel, and I guess in some ways it is, but I also think that Dory’s strory is one that stands on it’s own and is one we can all associate with to a degree
After an event that triggers a memory, Dory sets out on a quest for answers about her parents and where she comes from, that leads her through adventures that only Dory could set in motion. Throughout those adventures you see more memories opening up in her mind to the point where she can recall many various events and characters.
In Finding Dory, we are introduced to new personalities and one of my favourites absolutely had to be Hank the Octopus…..hmmm wait, that should be Septopus (he only has 7 tentacles). We learn that Octopus have 3 hearts but dear old Hank has hardened all of them against caring for anything or anyone, until he spends time with Dory. What follows is a friendship that I think even surprises Hank.
With several other interesting characters including, Bailey, a beluga whale who is convinced his echolocation skills are on the fritz; and Destiny, a nearsighted whale shark, the cast is set to keep everyone loving and laughing through the storyline as they navigate their way through California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute, a rehabilitation center and aquarium.
All in all, this is another great Disney Pixar movie and one you should definately take the kids to. It will be another that will grace our DVD collection when it comes out and I know it will be one the kids will watch over and over.
