Robin Hobb is one of the world’s finest writers of epic fiction. She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska, where she learned how to raise a wolf cub, to skin a moose and to survive in the wilderness. When she married a fisherman who fished herring and the Kodiak salmon-run for half the year, these skills would stand her in good stead. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State..

  1. ANNNND Robin Hobb drags us back into the world of FitzChilvary Farseer.
When I was given this book to read I thought how? Fitz has retired, he’s married and as it turns out kids. How is he going to be dragged back into the world of assassination’s and secrets. Well that’s easy as it turns out, by his kids 🙂
I love the FitzChivilary serries of books, Fitz and the Fool are excellent characters and I was looking forward to immersing myself back into their world.
As with all of Robin Hobb’s books/series I’ve read so far this first book starts off slow to introduce characters, set the scene etc, But once things start happening you will find out the book is very hard to put down as you want to know what happens next.
Robin has a knack of creating the sense of wonder and intrigue that I enjoy and makes you want to keep reading(even well after you should have gone to bed) and now that I’ve finished the book I desperately need to find the next one so I can find out how they will deal with the chaos that is unfolding.

An excellent book to read if you’ve read the other Farseer series, If you haven’t there will be some holes in the story that may throw the casual reader but still an enthralling read.
