Fruit Mince Turnovers


  • 2 1/2 Cups of Plain Flour
  • A pinch of salt
  • 175gms Butter
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 1/4 Cup of cold water
  • 1 1/2 cups Fruit Mince (we used the Anathoth brand as it's a favourite)
  • Small portion of Milk


  1. Sift Flour & Salt into a large mixing bowl
  2. Cut Butter into cubes and rub into the flour until it all resembles fine breadcrumbs
  3. Using a knife, add egg yolk and water slowly, kneeding into the dough into a ball
  4. Wrap in gladwrap and lace in fridge for at least 30 min
  5. Divide pastry in half.
  6. Roll out one half as thinly as possible and using a round cutter (around 7 inches) cut out rounds
  7. Once circles are cut out, roll a little thinner
  8. Put around 1 teaspoon of the mincemeat in the centre of the circle
  9. Dampen edges of circle with milk and carefully fold circle in half and seal the edges
  10. Return to fridge for another 30 minutes
  11. Preheat oven to 200degrees
  12. Put turnovers onto a tray lined with baking paper
  13. Prick tops with a fork and cook for 15-20 min
  14. Dust with icing sugar before serving
