At this year’s Food Shows in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch she will share delicious recipes from her new book Essential Annabel Langbein – a gorgeous compendium of more than 700 recipes that marks 20 years since she published The Best of Annabel Langbein: Great Food for Busy Lives, known as “the bible” in many New Zealand

  1. The Food Show 2016

    Where do I start? This is THE event for the inner foodie and wine lover! And what an event it is!!

    Almost everything you can imagine is there, from spices or sauces to take your favourite dish to a whole new taste level, something sweet for those of us with a sweet tooth and want a treat….and seriously, who doesn’t like a sweet treat or 3 once in a while? Healthy options for those who want to try and be a bit more healthy or want to sneak something tasty but healthier into the families meals (admit it, we all try that, with varying degrees of success, I know), to a wide variety of foods to tempt the taste buds! And there is also a fantastic range of beverages too, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
    You’ll find not only new and exciting ways of cooking your favourite foods, to new recipies you may not have even heard of or thought about (my stack of Simon Gault recipies is growing thanks to the Food Show) but also items to cook with, on and in!
    And then there are the live demonstrations by favourite cooks/chefs. Just can’t beat seeing them cook something you have wanted to try, right in front of you. If they can do it live in front of a crowd, then you know you can do it at home!
    There are bargains galore with lots of Show only deals.

    My tips…..

    1. Wear comfy shoes!
    2. Don’t’ attend with a full stomach, you are going to want the stomach space to fit all the samples in!! You can go back to the same stand many times…..I did!!
    3. Take your time, there is lots to see, taste and smell! Visit the stands more than once.
    4. Sit in on a demonstration or two. There is always something new to be learnt.
    5. Keep an open mind, taste everything, even if it’s not something you normally would eat or drink. You may just find a new family favourite.
    6. Take the kids! Yes, I said take the kids!! Take the whole family! There is method in this madness. Get them to sample foods too. Why? Simple…..it will give you a chance to try them on something new, without it costing you a small fortune first, and you’ll find something they will eat! It’s also a good family day out, and a great way of engaging the kids in the world of food!!
