  1. Simplicious is Sarah Wilson’s latest book and it’s huge! 376 pages of beautiful photos and inspiring meal ideas. I love her principles of eating minimally processed, nutrient dense food. If you’re new to the JERF (just eat real food) philosophy some of the ingredients may be a little new to you but hang in there and give it a go. It has a section at the start which covers kitchen basics, how to buy and store food, food prep and using up your leftovers. Then the recipes cover a variety of areas; Against the Grain Breakfasts, Snackalicious, Mince, Sunday Cook Ups, One-Pan Wonders… as well as gut healing foods and ferments and a pretty celebration menu.

I’ve tried out the meatball recipe, which made a huge amount so we could eat some, freeze some and have some in the fridge for another night. It gave nice options to customise them using different flavours. Actually the whole book contains suggestions and modifications for the recipes and tells you how to best use leftovers or store for another night. I love that about it, it’s not your standard recipe only book. The basics section has good mayo and dressings too. I’m looking forward to making the dairy free chocolate covered ice blocks (golden happy times) for the kids sometime soon. Most of the food is naturally gluten free. I think this book is great for anybody who is trying to feed themselves and their family better.
