It’s a Jamberry Christmas
It’s that time of the year when we all go a little crazy for Holiday Wraps!!! Yes, the silly season is near and themed nails are the most fun you can have without going all out, all day everyday! Each year, the Jamberry holiday wraps releases are highly anticipated and this year is no exception!
Choosing a Nail Wrap
At the recent Jamberry Christmas evening we held, we didn’t have lots and lots of people but that was probably just as well because we were able to chat about the experience as the night went on.
For me, one of the most difficult things was actually choosing which wrap I wanted to use. Seriously they are all so full of Christmas Spirit and colour that you could choose any and be totally happy with how amazing they’re going to look. But don’t just take my word for it, check out the Christmas goodies HERE
I chose Tinsel Poinsettia which was one of the designs I bought in myself for the night as it was one that really appealled to me….but on the night all the others seemed to call my name as well haha so I couldn’t decide if I would save the Tinsel Poinsettia for another day closer to Christmas Day.
We were lucky enough that we were supplied with not only an amazing selection of Jamberry Nail Wraps, but also the heater which makes the application of the wraps just that much easier. However if the budget wont stretch to buying the heater (or your waiting for one in your Christmas Stocking) then you can use a hairdryer just as easily. Basically you’re heating up the film that covers the back of the wrap so that it can adhere to your nail and bond there to look pretty for the next couple of weeks.
Step 1 – Presuming of course you’ve chosen the gorgeous wrap that you’re going to use, is to clean unpolished nails with alcohol wipe and push back the cuticles.
Step 2 – From there you need to choose the wrap size that is most suited to the size of your nails. We were informed that we were better to opt for a slightly smaller wrap rather than go oversize because so long as it’s not a huge gap, you really don’t see it on the sides, but if you go over, it doesn’t look as effective. I have small hands/nails so even the smallest wrap was a little big for my nail but they’re pretty easy to trim down
Step 3 – Cut the wrap in half. This will be plenty big enough for most nails, however if you have extremely long nails you might have to miss this step
Step 4 – Peel off nail wrap and warm with the mini heater or blow-dryer for 3-5 seconds or until soft and flexible.
Step 5 – Once the wrap is warm, press it onto the nail. Apply firm pressure around edges to adhere the wrap to the nail. Use rubber cuticle pusher to seal the wrap around the base of the cuticle.
Step 6 – Trim the top with scissors and file off remaining wrap using a downward motion to remove excess
Step 7 – Apply heat and pressure to the wrap again until it is bonded to the nail
Step 8 – Admire your beautiful new nails !!!
By the end of the night we were all relatively surprised at just how easy it was to use the wraps. We were also surprised at just how awesome they looked, even on short nails as I think just about all of us had been wondering that throughout the lead up to the night as we experienced nail breakage after nail breakage in the days beforehand.
This was my ‘start’ to playing although looking at the nails now, I think I should have trimmed my pointer finger nail a little…..however it looks pretty darn awesome now it has pretties on it haha.
As you can see, I didn’t get it perfect but for my first attempt I thought I did pretty well and I would happily do them again in the future
I believe this was Natasha and Rebekah’s nails. Both (like me) had short nails but the wraps looked really great on their nails, this photo really doesn’t do them justice.
Rebekah’s daughter loved them that much that she’s bringing her round tomorrow so we can have another play and put more Christmas nails into the world for everyone to see and fall in love with.
2 days on – I have noticed a little bit of bubbling in my nail wraps but I honestly think this was caused because we were all sharing the heater and the applicators and while waiting for the rubber cuticle pusher, perhaps the bond went a little cold. However nothing has peeled, and nothing has come off so I think it’s just the OCD in me that can see little imperfections while other people are commenting on how great they look. Despite doing dishes and getting out in the garden, the colours haven’t faded and it’s kind of nice to know that as well as being a Mum and doing housework etc, I can still have something that looks pretty and reminds me that I can have girlie moments too.
