Family in Focus have many members/readers who have been through the pain of loss and as such, know how you feel and how sometimes words just don't fit the pain you're feeling.
Having someone to talk to can make a world of difference, and sometimes other people just don't understand
But we as parents do
In New Zealand each year, more than 600 babies are stillborn or die within the first 28 days of birth, and one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage. This is one of those experiences that no one would ever wish upon any parent to be, but unfortunately it is something that many of us have had to go through.
However there are some amazing places around that can provide you with more information, more support and perhaps more insight that what we can do, so we feel it is important to list these places on this page
Miscarriage Support - We are a team of volunteers of various ages who have all experienced the loss of our own babies and would like to provide emotional support and information for women and their families during and after miscarriage and subsequent pregnancies
SIDS New Zealand Incorporated is a national organisation established to provide services for families and communities who have had children of any age die suddenly and/or unexpectedly of any cause including SIDS.
SANDS New Zealand - We are a voluntary, parent-run, non-profit organisation set up to support parents and families who have experienced the death of a baby at any stage during pregnancy, as a baby or infant
Angel Casts - Angel Casts are Hamilton based and create beautifully detailed hand and feet stone replicas of a baby or child who has left their parents arms too soon.
