Petes Dragon

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.

  1. I must be one of the few people that never really watch Pete’s Dragon as a child, so I didn’t really go into the movie with an expectation of what I was going to see.
We all love to have fairy tales of some description feature in our imaginations, whether you love dragons, fairies or something else from the fantasy realm, so Pete’s Dragon was a movie I was really looking forward to sharing with my family.
From the very first moment, I fell in love with the story about a boy and his dragon, a connection that was beyond anything that reality could live up to, but one that you wish it could. A creature that without words has the ability to capture your heart with his personality, his gentle strength and his big heart.
With beautiful scenery (well it was filmed in NZ so what do you expect) and some awesome CGI, this is definately one movie that I’ll be purchasing when it is available on DVD.

My only negative ? Karl Urban !!
Now don’t jump to conclusions, Karl is one of my most favourite actors but lets just say I have never wanted a character to be eating by a dragon more so than I did in this movie. So I guess that’s a pretty good testiment to the character he portrays and just how good he does it.
