We have had the opportunity to try one of these and while at first, a part of me thought that it was just a lazy way to do a quick clean when you couldn’t be bothered, I soon learnt that this wasn’t the case.
We first put it together and got it charging etc. If you have a tiny little room, this vacuum is not for you. You need a metre of clear space for 3 metres in front of the charging station OR .5 metres on the right and left. This didn’t cause a problem for us as we have a rather large lounge.
When we finally got it charged and we picked up everything off the floor, we put the R-VAC into motion. I actually found it rather hypnotic to watch as obviously for the first time we wanted to see it in action. It got under the TV table, under the children’s table and under/around the furniture with no problem at all, and did a pretty amazing job, far better than I expected.
It was so easy to use and it literally did it all itself until we decided to have a play with the remote and get the R-VAC going up the hallway, round the kitchen floor etc. The reach the R-VAC had was really good. I got almost up to the end of the hallway before it started telling me it needed to get back to the charger.
This really is a great little machine although when I sat down to think about things I wondered when/how it would be at it’s best.
If you’re a busy household that has toys etc everywhere, then I’m not sure it’s the best vacuum for you because you have to get everything off the floor first.
If you have a household that is a lot tidier than mine, then this would be an amazing fit within your home and I know it would be a very welcome addition.

Now I can’t wait to hear what other people think 🙂

  1. I would love to try one!! With 2 dogs and a cat that’s always leaving hair around, I’m forever needing to vacuum!!’

  2. Pet hair drives me insane. This looks like it would be fantastic.

I would love, love, love to review this product. I have two German Shepherds and two kids, so I have a huge task of vacuuming daily hair/crumbs etc. Something that makes the vacuuming easier (and more fun) even if only for a short time would be fantastic. Also based in Hamilton 🙂

  5. I would love to review this product. I have 3 children, ages 5,2 and a newborn and in as much as I want to clean my house and do vacuuming all the time, I don’t have the time or energy — especially since i’ve just had a c-section. One time, I couldn’t take it anymore and did some vacuuming myself and almost popped my stitches! this robo vac will be a great great chance for me to take a break and will have the full attention of my review!

  6. We have had this R-VAC vacuum cleaner for the last week, and we were very happy with it after only the first couple of days. We have a large 5 bedroom house, and this vacuum reached into the far corners at each end, and found the docking station easily to charge itself after each run so was definitely an easy product to utilise with a lot of benefits. We have two German Shepherds, and two kids, so I found this product worked extremely well doing the full house vacuum each day, and a quick clean of the brushes and emptying of the chamber was very easy between charges. Our house is very well set up for this product as all the beds and furniture are raised, so this vacuum can get right in under all the couches, beds, and kids tables, and I got into a good routine easily of raising the dining chairs and bar stools each night for the vacuum, and then just put these all back down again each morning.

The down side for me for this vacuum was that after one week of using this R-VAC every day, I did a regular vacuum with my Dyson, which is pretty powerful and also designed for tough pet hair etc, and the dust chamber was completely full after only a few rooms, which indicates to me that the R-VAC was probably only lifting the noticeable stuff sitting on the surface of the carpet. I usually vacuum almost every day, so I was impressed with how much more time I had in the day when I didn’t have to do this, but after seeing this result I’m not sure how effective this vacuum would be in our home for long term use. I also work from home, so by the end of the week I was getting a bit over hearing it crossing each room 20 or so times as it moved around constantly.

In my opinion, the R-VAC vacuum ideal situation would be for a family with pets that could set the remote to go each morning after you left for work and school, and the house would be surface vacuumed by your return, with a full vacuum required from an ordinary vacuum at the end of each week.

  7. Review 3

We had been looking forward to having our chance to play with the R-Vac Vacuum, so when our turn came up, it felt strange to be excited about the prospect of doing housework.
We don’t have a big household, so a product like this really did appeal as with work etc it could be set up and ideally I could come home to a relatively clean house.
The first thing we noticed was the space that is needed to park the charger. You need to have a set clear space and for smaller houses, this could become a bit of an issue if your small house is a bit on the full side.
Our household consists of ourselves, a baby and a shorthair cat, so perhaps we weren’t going to be testing the pethair side of things to the full extent we could have, but the next morning we put it into practice (making sure that the pathway was completely clear)
After work I went home and not sure what I was expecting, but I was hoping to go home to a nicely vacuumed house and that was exactly what happened so it totally met my expectations in this regard. I did notice a few spots that weren’t as great as if I’d done them with our big vacuum but all in all, it was nice to come home to. Now if it just did dishes, it would be the perfect machine

  8. We were very excited to be given the chance to use & review this vacuum. Our household consists of 2 young kids, pre-schooler & school age, 2 adults and a cat that moults like crazy.
Getting it prepared we noticed we had to have a large area to charge the unit, we needed to move a few things around but sorted it quickly.
The unit took a few hours to charge then away it went….. At first we thought it was doing a great job but soon realised that our lounge was too cluttered for the vacuum, it was knocking over side tables, getting stuck on our fire half & cat pole, off it went down the hallway & sucked up the toilet mat & bath mat, and although it was doing a great job of vacuuming I felt it needed babysitting all the time. The concept of this vacuum is awesome, but it wouldn’t suit everyone.
I do feel this product would suit a household without young children’s toys etc to bother it, or a house with minimal to no items on the floor.
